• We will ensure that your system starts up quickly by disabling or uninstalling unwanted programs or “bloatware” that ships with many new Big Box computers.

• We will install effective and lightweight personal security software that will help protect you from viruses and other malware.

• We will get your new computer set up on the network and functioning with your printers and other devices.

• We will help you start fresh and migrate from Internet Explorer to Firefox or another alternate web browser, so you can browse the internet safer and faster–all while keeping your favorites, bookmarks, and homepage intact!  Internet Explorer will still be on your system and available in case you need it for specific websites

 

Increase your storage space or system speed with a hard drive upgrade.

• In a computer, the hard drive stores all of your data on a permanent basis.  Your operating system lives on the hard drive.  When you edit a file, save a picture, or download a song, it gets stored on the hard drive.  It is important to have the space to store the things you need.

• Having enough free space is also important for maintenance and speed purposes.  You need to have at least 15% free space to effectively defragment your hard drive–if you get too low on free space, your computer will also start to slow down more and more as it frantically tries to find the room to put new files or tries to piece together files that are “fragmented”.

• Vizionteck can upgrade your hard drive to ensure you have enough space to store all of your photos, music, movies, games, and other files while keeping your data and the way your computer is set up completely intact.

 

Speed up your computer and multitask more efficiently by upgrading your RAM.

• RAM (Random Access Memory) functions as your computer’s short-term memory.  The more RAM your computer has, the more effectively it can multi-task and the faster it will generally run.  Upgrading from the minimum required to run your programs, operating system, and security software to a more generous amount can make a significant impact on how fast your computer is.

• When RAM starts to go bad, common symptoms are Blue Screen of Death (BSOD) STOP errors, random restarts, and other program/operating system crashes.  Defective RAM should be replaced as soon as possible to prevent damage to your files or operating systems.

• VizionTeck recommends that all of our clients operate Windows 8.1 or Windows 10 with at least 4GB (4096MB) of RAM.  More RAM will be needed for modern gaming, video editing, and other resource-intensive work.

• You can easily check how much RAM your computer has by clicking on the “Start” button in the lower left of your screen, then Right-Clicking on “My Computer” (called “Computer” in Windows Vista or Windows 7 or “This PC” in Windows 8.1).  This will bring up a small menu, from which you should select Properties.  On the System Properties window that appears, you should be able to see how much RAM you have.
